At Tru Optik, we value transparency and choice. We want to be as transparent as possible about the circumstances in which data about you might be collected and shared. We also want to give you choices about whether and how data about you might be collected and shared.
We receive certain information about you, your household, and your devices from third-party data partners who provide us this information in order to help us build and deliver marketing segments for our customers. The information we collect and receive on our platform does not directly identify you, but it may be considered "personal data" or "personal information" under applicable privacy or data protection laws (collectively, "Personal Information"). The Personal Information that we collect and receive includes the following categories of information:
Tru Optik’s technology works by using IP addresses and other information we collect to link together devices that we think may be used by the same person or household. This allows our advertising partners to show ads that are more relevant to your interests across your devices and to better understand how consumers interact with their ads. We also use the Personal Information that we receive and collect for a number of business and commercial purposes, including:
We share Personal Information with third parties as follows:
Tru Optik identifies "households" for purposes of delivering targeted advertising based on behavioral/interest-based categories and other information associated with such households. One of the elements (but not the only element) that make up a "household" is the IP address associated with that household. IP addresses are assigned by your Internet service provider to the modem used to access the internet for connected devices in your home and/or business. When you choose to opt out through privacy.tv, we will exclude any "households" in our market segmentation data products that are associated with the IP address(s) from which you have chosen to opt out. For this reason, you should opt out at each location where you wish to not receive targeted OTT advertising that is based on Tru Optik-delivered market segments. In the event your IP address changes, or you access an OTT service from a different location, the opt out will not be effective.
You can also click below to opt out of having Tru Optik data used to select ads for your browser and/or non-browser-enabled software clients based on your online web browsing behavior. When you opt out, an opt-out cookie (from dmp.truoptik.com) will be stored in your web browser, and your IP address will also be stored by Tru Optik. Tru Optik will know the choice you have made when it sees your optout cookie, or, with respect to non-browser-enabled software clients, your IP address, and will apply your choice to all companies’ use of Tru Optik audience segments. If you block or delete the opt-out cookie, Tru Optik will not see your choice.
When you opt out, we will set a cookie that tells us not to select ads using your browsing behavior. If you delete your cookies, you will need to opt out again. The opt out only applies to the browser in which you set it. If you opt out, data may still be collected about your web browsing activities and you will still see advertising. If you wish to block or delete cookies altogether, you can use web browser settings to do so. We will store your opt out choice with your IP address, but the choice will not be effective if your IP address changes or if you use an OTT service from another location.
We store and retain data, including Personal Information, in non-aggregated form for up to 18 months from the date of collection. We use aggregated data for reporting and analysis and may store it for up to 2 additional years from the date of collection.
