At Tru Optik, we value transparency and choice. We want to be as transparent as possible about the situations in which data about you might be collected and shared. We also want you to have the choice about whether and how data about you might be collected and shared.
Tru Optik works with third party data partners who provide us with interest-based information in order to deliver market segments to our customers. These market segments are then used by our customers to deliver targeted advertising in connection with longform professional video productions delivered over the internet ("OTT").
We understand that you may prefer not to take advantage of the benefits of receiving tailored, more relevant advertising in connection with OTT services. If that is your preference, we provide you with the ability to opt out of our use of your information by us to deliver interest-based advertising. Please note that if you choose to opt-out of our interest-based advertising services, it does not mean that you will receive less advertising, or no advertising, when accessing OTT services. This just means that the advertising you receive in connection with OTT services will not be as relevant and customized to your interests. It also does not mean that you will not receive any targeted advertising – it only means that you will not receive any targeted advertising that is based on market segments delivered by Tru Optik after the date that you opt out.
We may also collect personal data (“Personal Data”) that you provide to us, or that you may direct a third party to provide to us, such as your name, e-mail address, physical address, company name, title, telephone number, facsimile number, billing address and social media information. One way that you supply us your Personal Data is when you take an action such as register for an account or otherwise voluntarily supply your Personal Data to us. For example, if you send us an e-mail, or fill out an online account registration form, you are transmitting your Personal Data to us.
privacy.tv is one way that you can prevent your data from being used by us. Another way to exercise choice over the use of data about you is to opt out of the collection of your data through the NIA or similar self-regulatory organizations. We also have an opt out “cookie” that you can use (below) to prevent any of our market segments from being used to provide you with targeted advertising over the internet (as opposed to OTT).
We may share Personal Data with third parties that assist us in providing our services or products or otherwise responding to your requests or orders. Further, we may share Personal Data with third parties for market and industry research purposes, for advertising and marketing purposes, and potentially other reasons.
We may transfer any information in its databases, including but not limited to Personal Data, to an affiliate or third party as part of a transfer of business assets.
Our technology platform, the Tru Optik DMP, enables our clients to deliver more relevant advertising and content to consumers across digital channels, including desktop, mobile, and connected TV channels, by gathering data about your visits to, and use of, their digital properties. Tru Optik DMP is licensed to our customers for their own purposes. These customers have their own policies that govern how they collect, use, and share data, which may differ from Tru Optik’s own data collection, usage, and sharing policies. Please consult the privacy policies of the websites you visit and apps you use to become familiar with their privacy practices.
Tru Optik identifies “households” for purposes of delivering targeted advertising based on behavioral/interest-based categories and other information associated with such households. One of the elements (but not the only) that make up a "household" is the IP address associated with that household. IP addresses are assigned by your Internet service provider to the modem used to access the internet for connected devices in your home and/or business. When you choose to "opt out" through privacy.tv, we will exclude any "households" in our market segmentation data products that are associated with the IP address(s) from which you have chosen to "opt out." (For this reason, you should opt out at each location where you wish to not receive targeted OTT advertising that is based on Tru Optik-delivered market segments.) You will not receive any targeted advertising that is based on a Tru Optik market segment that is delivered from that point forward, because your “household” will not be included in any market segments that we deliver to our customers.
You can click below to opt out of having Tru Optik data used to select ads for your browser and/or non browser-enabled software clients based on your online web browsing behavior. When you opt out, an opt out cookie (from dmp.truoptik.com) will be stored in your web browser, and your IP address will also be stored by Tru Optik. Tru Optik will know the choice you have made when it sees your opt out cookie, or, with respect to non browser-enabled software clients, your IP address, and will apply your choice to all companies’ use of Tru Optik audience segments. If you block or delete the opt out cookie, Tru Optik will not see your choice.
You can opt out of Tru Optik-powered targeted advertising over the internet, through the use of an opt-out cookie,
Data is stored and retained in non-aggregated form for up to 18 months from the date of collection. Aggregated data is used for reporting and analysis, and may be stored for up to 2 additional years.
Tru Optik uses cookie syncing, the process of mapping user IDs from one system to another, to enable advertisers to use data on multiple advertising platforms. It also allows Tru Optik to assist our partners in relating our cookie-less audience segments back to site visitors for use in ad targeting.
